I just read on a Washingtonpost.com an article called "Where have all the protests Gone?" started off by talking about how the stock market has gone nuts, and the governemnt is treating wallstreet with random cures that is going to cost the United States nearly one trillion dollars, 4100 deaths have resulted in our 6 year war, and for the first time ever sex and race is coming into play in our presidential electoin. All these events this article talks about show that this time period that we are going through is a first for alot of things in our nations history. In fact with all these firsts, people today wonder, why is there no more protests anymore? With all these contreversys and such, why are their no more street protests or riots? So, in Washington Sq. Park the question was asked why the riots are not common anymore, and many responded in saying "My sense is that nobody feels they can make a difference in the same way that students did in 1968(a time during radical activism)," and also "Nobody has the motivation to follow through on such a storng opinion now-a-days". The main point the article really trys to get across is that college students and teens really dont get involved in issues that may effect them anymore. With studies shown, more kids prefer to get a good grade on a certain assignment and attend a nice school then show thier opinion on a current issue.

That is so sad. I wish that we as a school and teens got involved. Since we are all so worried about our grades im sure that we have some good smarts. That to me mean tsh that if we were willing to go protest or stand up for things we believe in, we could all make a difference. we need to get educated and start trying to get more involved :)
